The Derwent House

Design Portfolio

Design Process

This Design portfolio shows the process from site analysis, selecting the user market and gathering enough research to design an egalitarian office space for the Jewellery Quarter. The finalised technical drawings show the spatial configuration of the Derwent House.

This process booklet shows all key decisions that have been made to create an individualistic design that still follows building regulations due to its grade listed building.

The Derwent House is a grade listed building located in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter.  This versatile space combines the ‘old and new’ into one synergetic space. The basic principle involves upholding the heritage of the Jewellery Quarter, by accommodating an auction room thus creating awareness and connections for many businesses in the area. This will be used for both the largest age groups in the area and promoting more teenagers to get involved in the process of buying and selling the most prestige jewellery to uphold the legacy.
